Travelers have always felt compelled to give account of their journeys. Historically, it is a rich tradition that often tells us just as much about the traveller as the foreign lands transversed. On a more personal level, that recounting can be of benefit to both the speaker – congealing memories and validating experiences – and the sometimes curious (but almost always patient) listener.
So, please indulge me in this a modest archive of a some of the images from my own travels…
A selection of snaps from a train trip throughout Western Sweden. August – September 2013.
Photographs from our first cross country road trip, traveling a meandering southern-oriented route from Ithaca, NY, to Oakland, CA. October 2012.
X-C Take II
Photographs from our second cross country road trip, traveling from California to Rhode Island to spend the holidays with the folks. December 2013 – January 2014.
Photographs taken on an exploratory journey of California in anticipation of relocation. We kept to the coast, traveling north from Los Angeles to Fort Bragg, then retracing our steps back to the Bay Area. September 2012.
In conjunction with a very special cataloging job, I was flown to England for research. The work was based in Lewes, though we took a side trip to Brighton. From there, I took the train to Oxford and London before reluctantly returning stateside. April 2009.
An unexpected Spring Break detour and my first time on European soil. The weather was damp. The food and wine beautiful. We walked and walked until our feet bled. March 2007.
