The Art & Life of Alison Mason Kingsbury
On 23, Feb 2013 | In Work-For-Hire Projects
Shortly after completing my coursework at Cornell University, I was contacted by the Art Department about a project to research and catalog the late regionalist painter Alison Mason Kingsbury’s work. Hired by the artist’s daughter Alison Jolly, I undertook the task, which involved traveling to Lewes, England, and Philadelphia, as well as multiple local repositories, to document her artwork.
With the extensive research and documentation, I wrote and designed a book tracing Kingbury’s career that was published by Cornell University Library, the repository of the artist’s papers. We also set-up an online image database, complete with detailed meta data, of the artist’s oeuvre.
In conjunction with the release of the text, The Art & Life of Alison Mason Kingsbury, I curated a temporary exhibit and delivered a lecture at the Library’s Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections. The exhibit was accompanied by a full website that is still available.
